HIPS High Impact Polystyrene
DESCRIPTION
High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS), commonly known as HIPS, is a rubber-modified version of General-Purpose Polystyrene. The addition of rubber makes this thermoplastic incredibly durable, with much higher impact resistance than its former compound. Like all thermoplastics, the material can become soft and pliable when heated, and re-solidify upon cooling.
Polystyrene (PS) is designed to meet a wide variety of applications and is one of the most versatile and inexpensive materials today. Primex offers both forming and printing grades of polystyrene sheet that may also be FDA compliant.
NOTE: Sign Grade HIPS is typically available in “color” and size and texture.
