Urethane (Polyurethane)

DESCRIPTION

Polyurethane is a thermoset plastic made by curing a resin component with a hardener component.  By varying these 2 parts urethanes can be made with a broad array of properties particularly the hardness from a soft shore A to a very hard shore D.  Being thermoset in type, a urethane cannot be heated and reformed for recycling.  Curing times can vary from a short 15 minutes to 24 hours as needed by the process.  Urethanes are durable in nature and typically have excellent abrasion resistance.  Urethanes are so varied that it is difficult to anticipate a customer’s needs.  Standard shapes in rod, tube, plate, and desire durometer.  Meyer Plastics has several customers that order cast parts in net shape or near net shape which involves an investment in custom molds.  Give us a call to find out how these programs work.
